DrillComm™ Network
Every tool.
Every sensor.
Every second of the run.
The industry’s most capable downhole wireless network
Directional drilling has been built for decades around a single data point: whatever was hardwired to the pulser.
The DrillComm Network replaces that bottleneck with a wireless mesh that links the RSS, the MWD, near-bit sensors, and every third-party tool in the BHA into a continuous data stream.
What used to be opaque is now observable. What used to be guessed at is now measured. And what used to take hours to confirm now takes seconds.
How It Works
DrillComm is a two-part system — a central Hub mounted near the MWD, and compact nodes distributed across the BHA.
The Hub aggregates data from every node and hands it to the MWD for uplink. Nodes relay data peer-to-peer, so the network stays resilient even when any single link is disrupted.
DrillComm™ Hub
Attached to the MWD, the Hub collects data from all nodes and hands the aggregated stream to the MWD for uplink to surface.
Distributed Nodes
Compact wireless nodes mounted on BHA components — the RSS, near-bit sensors, and third-party tools — each acting as both sensor host and network relay.
BUILT FOR
DIRTY MUD
High solids and LCM are not a problem. DrillComm doesn't depend on clean flow paths or small ports. Pump what the well demands; the data keeps flowing.
Peer-to-Peer Resilience
Nodes relay data between each other, so the network keeps working even if a single link drops.
Universal MWD Compatibility
The DrillComm Network works with any pulse or EM system. No vendor lock-in and complete flexibility in BHA design.

The Connected BHA
Real-Time, End-to-End Visibility
See the Whole BHA
Distributed sensors — now reality. Sensor data from every point along the assembly, not just the MWD collar.
Measure What You Used to Guess
RSS health, drilling dysfunction, near-bit inclination and magnetics, stabilizer contact, bit behavior, vibration origin, and tool status — all in real time, all the way down.
Stay Connected Through Disruption
Peer-to-peer node relay keeps data flowing even when a single link drops.
Scale With the Well
Add a node to any BHA component to add a data stream — no redesign, no new telemetry channel.
One Network, Many Tools
Kinetic and third-party tools share the same data fabric through the TeleConnect connector.
Close the Loop to Surface
Real-time downhole data enables faster, better informed steering and intervention decisions.
DrillComm Enables Autonomy
The DrillComm Network is more than a communication tool — it’s the foundation for closed-loop autonomous steering.
By providing reliable, high-bandwidth wireless data transfer between the Kontour’s onboard sensors and the surface, DrillComm enables the Kontour to:
- Receive trajectory updates and steering commands in real time
- Transmit near-bit survey data for faster decision-making
- Support automated steering protocols that combine geometric and geologic targets
- Enable remote, cloud-based operational control
As Kinetic’s autonomy roadmap advances, DrillComm will serve as the data highway connecting downhole AI engines with surface systems — closing the loop on fully autonomous well placement.
