Most BHAs are assembled, not designed — stabilizers and subs stacked by convention, tuned by reputation, adjusted run-to-run by feel. The pivot point, which governs how the whole string steers, ends up wherever the stack happens to put it.
The K-Pivot makes it a design decision: a deliberate pivot — the third touch point of our directional system — with stabilization sized around it. That geometry damps lateral vibration at the source and produces build, hold, and drop behavior that matches the well plan instead of fighting it. The result is a drilling dysfunction mitigation tool capable of decoupling bending moments and providing lateral vibration mitigation.
How It Works
K-Pivot strategically decouples BHA vibrations from sensitive MWD and RSS components and ensures consistent weight-on-bit and directional side forces — for better ROP and directional control.

When used with steerable motors, K-Pivot delivers measurable improvements in directional drilling performance:
- Lower sliding times through improved toolface stability
- Higher DLS responses and motor yield — getting more directional performance from the same motor configuration
- Potentially reduces the need for higher-bend PDMs, which in turn reduces hole tortuosity and improves torque and drag performance through the lateral
